Vacuum Hardening

The Woodworth Group has three new state of the art 12-bar SECO vacuum furnaces. The 12-bar pressure quench affords us the assurance that dense heavy loads will be fully quenched. The convection heating system provides uniform heating, which enables us to better control distortion. These furnaces will handle up to 3500 pounds per furnace

Ultrawear Plus / Ferritic Nitrocarburize ( FNC )

This process is applied to ferrous metal parts to provide wear (anti-galling) and some corrosion resistance. It also increases fatigue properties and is specifically designed to enhance wear for parts such as forging or stamping dies, as well as fixtures, gears, slides, molds etc. The process creates a metallurgical case structure that is composed of the following two layers: Compound Zone & Nitrogen Diffusion Zone

Ultrawear Plus

This process gives you all the benefits of the Ultrawear ™ process, but it increases the corrosion resistance by using our polymer based corrosion preventative, which has been formulated exclusively for Woodworth Inc. When used along with the Ultrawear™ process this provides a durable, self-healing corrosion resistant film to the Ferritic Nitrocarburized surface of the treated part. This Ultrawear™ does not create a surface barrier like traditional coatings, but penetrates into the compound layer without adding any significant growth to the treated part. Ultrawear™ is not subject to chipping or scratching.

Gas Nitriding

This process is another way of altering the surface properties of a part for improving the resistance to surface indentation, fatigue and wear. It is achieved by using a low temperature process to control size change. This process will give parts a surface hardness up to 1100 HV and a case depth from 0.005 – 0.030 inches (0.1 – 0.6 mm). Gears, shafts and sprockets are just a few examples of parts that lend themselves to gas nitriding.
